The familiar full-auto service carbine. It has the highest fire rate of the launch assault rifles and is the general-purpose pick that fits most engagements.

The M4 has 9 attachment categories. In MW4 you unlock each attachment once, and it then works on every weapon that accepts it.

We are not publishing our own attachment-by-attachment build until we have tested this weapon in the launch version. Until then, the in-game Gunny optimizer in Create-a-Class and the FOB Gunsmith can suggest close-range, balanced and long-range builds from the attachments you own.
Apex Attachment: M4 Hurricane
Turns the M4 into a top-fed, bullpup-style 5.7x28mm variant that is lighter, handles faster and fires faster still.
It blocks the Barrel, Magazine slot(s). Apex Attachments do not use one of your normal attachment slots, and you unlock this one at weapon level 72.
Getting the M4 in DMZ
The M4 unlocks at player level 14.
In DMZ the player level only matters for leveling, because weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared with Multiplayer. To actually carry a M4 into Hajin:
- Loot one from enemies, players or military containers. Weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8 attachments.
- Buy it from the Vendor (DMZ level 5) when it is in that day's stock.
- Extract once with the M4 Weapon Manual. After that you can buy the base weapon at the Gunsmith (DMZ level 10) as often as you like and add up to 5 attachments with DMZ Cash.
Any M4 you extract with can also be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off copy. You can carry two weapons in and out of a deployment, or more with a Weapon Backpack.
