The Axion has 9 attachment categories. In MW4 you unlock each attachment once, and it then works on every weapon that accepts it.

Apex Attachment: Axion Clearcut
Swaps the furniture for a chainsaw-style rear grip, handlebar foregrip, hip laser and canted sight, which makes it a mobile hipfire weapon.
It blocks the Optic, Laser, Underbarrel, Stock, Rear Grip slot(s). Apex Attachments do not use one of your normal attachment slots, and you unlock this one at weapon level 69.
Getting the Axion in DMZ
The Axion unlocks at player level 52.
In DMZ the player level only matters for leveling, because weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared with Multiplayer. To actually carry a Axion into Hajin:
- Loot one from enemies, players or military containers. Weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8 attachments.
- Buy it from the Vendor (DMZ level 5) when it is in that day's stock.
- Extract once with the Axion Weapon Manual. After that you can buy the base weapon at the Gunsmith (DMZ level 10) as often as you like and add up to 5 attachments with DMZ Cash.
Any Axion you extract with can also be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off copy. You can carry two weapons in and out of a deployment, or more with a Weapon Backpack.
