The Forward Operating Base is where you spend time between deployments. Most stations are open from the start. The 3D Printer unlocks at DMZ level 2, the Vendor at level 5, the Gunsmith at level 10 and the Dog Tag Case at level 20. The Boss Board opens after your second DMZ Order.

Active Duty Operators and MIA
- You start with 2 Active Duty slots (Vault Edition owners get 3) and unlock another through DMZ levels. An Operator stays in a slot until you dismiss them.
- Each Operator levels their own Dog Tag through 18 levels, up to Onyx III, and earns one Trait Point per level, for a maximum of 18. There are 66 Traits spread across three trees: Warfighter, Scout and Survivalist. A fully leveled Operator can Prestige.
- If an Operator dies, they go MIA. Pay DMZ Cash to recover them with their Traits intact (but none of their gear), or dismiss them. The more Traits they have, the more recovery costs.
- DMZ Cash, Resources and Ingredients are shared by all your Operators.
Stash and backpack rules
- The Stash starts at 40 items + 12 weapons.
- Without a backpack you have the Basic Pack, which has 8 slots.
- Anything in your backpack that is not in a Secure Slot is lost if you fail to exfil. The Medium Backpack, which you can print at level 2, adds Secure Slots.
- Armor plates fill automatically when you infil. You can only bring extra plates through Traits or the Armor Box Field Upgrade.
Your first 3D Printer recipes (DMZ level 2)
| Item | Needs |
|---|---|
| Bandage | Synthetics, Chemicals |
| Medkit | 30 Chemicals, 1 Binding Catalyst (Rare), 5 Biomaterials (Uncommon) |
| 1-Plate Armor Vest | Synthetics, Metals |
| 2-Plate Armor Vest | Synthetics, Reactive Metals (Uncommon) |
| Small Backpack | Synthetics, Metals |
| Medium Backpack (Secure Slots) | Synthetics, Rigid Synthetics (Uncommon) |
Pin a recipe in the 3D Printer to track it. Its ingredients are then marked with a pin when you find them in Hajin, and the printer suggests where each ingredient is likely to be.
Infil options and cost
These apply to Dynamic Operations and Free Roam. Prices are in DMZ Cash.
| Infil | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Ground | Free | Random spot in Hajin, on foot |
| Polaris Dagor A1 | 5,000 | Random spot, with a lightly armored vehicle air-dropped to you |
| LTV | 25,000 | Random spot, with a heavily armored vehicle air-dropped to you |
| Helicopter | 50,000 | Random spot, with your squad already in the air in a helicopter |
| Cargo Plane | 100,000 | Pick the exact spot you drop into |
Bounties: Killers and Hunters
Killing other players gives you a Bounty. Kill four Operators across deployments and you become Wanted, which alerts nearby players when you get close. You lose your Bounty if you die and fail to exfil, if someone extracts with your Dog Tag, or if you pay it off at a Bounty Station. Hunters can buy intel at a Bounty Station to find Wanted players. To collect the reward, you have to extract with the target's Dog Tag.
FAQ
What level does the Gunsmith unlock in DMZ?
The Gunsmith unlocks at DMZ Player Level 10. The 3D Printer unlocks at level 2, the Vendor at level 5 and the Dog Tag Case at level 20. The Boss Board unlocks after your second DMZ Order.
What happens when your Operator dies in DMZ?
They become MIA and cannot deploy until you recover them. Recovery costs DMZ Cash, and the price goes up with the number of Trait Points they have. They keep their Traits but come back without their gear. You can also dismiss them and recruit someone new.
How many items does the DMZ Stash hold?
At the start it holds 40 items and 12 weapons, counted separately. You can expand it with 3D Printer upgrades. Crafting Resources (Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals) do not take up Stash slots.
Do you lose everything if you fail to exfil?
You lose everything in your Backpack that is not in a Secure Slot. Upgraded backpacks such as the Medium Backpack have Secure Slots that protect what you put in them.
