SMG
PPSh-41 in MW4 DMZ: stats, unlock and Apex Attachment
The WWII drum-fed classic. At 1110 RPM it has the highest fire rate of any launch weapon, and its 71-round drum gives it the biggest SMG magazine. It uses Fire Mods instead of Rear Grip and Ammunition slots.
How it compares to other submachine guns
- Fire rate: 1110 RPM, which is the highest of 5 in its class.
- Magazine: 71 rounds, which is the highest of 5. The reserve holds about 1 more magazines.
- Mag dump: about 3.8s of continuous fire at the listed rate. This is our calculation, and burst or semi-auto weapons take longer in practice.
- Weapon levels: 62 levels to max it out.
| Weapon | Fire rate | Mag | Reserve | Mag dump | Weapon lvls | Unlock (MP lvl) |

Attachment slots
The PPSh-41 has 8 attachment categories. In MW4 you unlock each attachment once, and it then works on every weapon that accepts it.
- Optic
- Muzzle
- Barrel
- Underbarrel
- Magazine
- Stock
- Laser
- Fire Mods
We are not publishing our own attachment-by-attachment build until we have tested this weapon in the launch version. Until then, the in-game Gunny optimizer in Create-a-Class and the FOB Gunsmith can suggest close-range, balanced and long-range builds from the attachments you own.
Apex Attachment: PPSh-41 Ember
An underbarrel that fires a burst of incendiary projectiles, leaving short-lived fire for area denial.
It blocks the Barrel, Underbarrel, Magazine slot(s). Apex Attachments do not use one of your normal attachment slots, and you unlock this one at weapon level 62.
Getting the PPSh-41 in DMZ
Activision's launch post lists the PPSh-41 as unlocking at player level 30 in its unlock table and at level 27 in the weapon's own entry. Check your in-game Progression menu to confirm.
In DMZ the player level only matters for leveling, because weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared with Multiplayer. To actually carry a PPSh-41 into Hajin:
- Loot one from enemies, players or military containers. Weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8 attachments.
- Buy it from the Vendor (DMZ level 5) when it is in that day's stock.
- Extract once with the PPSh-41 Weapon Manual. After that you can buy the base weapon at the Gunsmith (DMZ level 10) as often as you like and add up to 5 attachments with DMZ Cash.
Any PPSh-41 you extract with can also be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off copy. You can carry two weapons in and out of a deployment, or more with a Weapon Backpack.
