SMG · 9x19mm
ISO Nightshade in MW4 DMZ: stats, unlock and Apex Attachment
A fast-firing 9mm SMG that balances control, mobility and close-range damage. It is the SMG available at level 4 and a safe all-rounder.
How it compares to other submachine guns
- Fire rate: 923 RPM, which is #3 of 5 in its class.
- Magazine: 30 rounds, which is #4 of 5. The reserve holds about 3 more magazines.
- Mag dump: about 2s of continuous fire at the listed rate. This is our calculation, and burst or semi-auto weapons take longer in practice.
| Weapon | Fire rate | Mag | Reserve | Mag dump | Weapon lvls | Unlock (MP lvl) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ISO Nightshade | 923 RPM | 30 | 90 | 2s | 64 | 4 |

Attachment slots
The ISO Nightshade has 9 attachment categories. In MW4 you unlock each attachment once, and it then works on every weapon that accepts it.
- Optic
- Muzzle
- Barrel
- Underbarrel
- Magazine
- Rear Grip
- Stock
- Laser
- Ammunition
We are not publishing our own attachment-by-attachment build until we have tested this weapon in the launch version. Until then, the in-game Gunny optimizer in Create-a-Class and the FOB Gunsmith can suggest close-range, balanced and long-range builds from the attachments you own.
Apex Attachment: ISO Trace
Ammo that tags whoever you hit and shows their movement as a red dot in the optic display.
It blocks the Optic, Ammunition slot(s). Apex Attachments do not use one of your normal attachment slots, and you unlock this one at weapon level 64.
Getting the ISO Nightshade in DMZ
The ISO Nightshade unlocks at player level 4, the same level Create-a-Class opens, so it is available from the start.
In DMZ the player level only matters for leveling, because weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared with Multiplayer. To actually carry a ISO Nightshade into Hajin:
- Loot one from enemies, players or military containers. Weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8 attachments.
- Buy it from the Vendor (DMZ level 5) when it is in that day's stock.
- Extract once with the ISO Nightshade Weapon Manual. After that you can buy the base weapon at the Gunsmith (DMZ level 10) as often as you like and add up to 5 attachments with DMZ Cash.
Any ISO Nightshade you extract with can also be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off copy. You can carry two weapons in and out of a deployment, or more with a Weapon Backpack.
