Sniper Rifle · 14.5mm
Astaroth .57 in MW4 DMZ: stats, unlock and Apex Attachment
A huge 14.5mm anti-materiel rifle with a 3-round capacity and the lowest fire rate of any launch gun (34 RPM). It is designed to win a fight with one clean hit.
How it compares to other sniper rifles
- Fire rate: 34 RPM, which is #3 of 3 in its class.
- Magazine: 3 rounds, which is #3 of 3. The reserve holds about 3 more magazines.
- Mag dump: about 5.3s of continuous fire at the listed rate. This is our calculation, and burst or semi-auto weapons take longer in practice.
- Weapon levels: 54 levels to max it out.
| Weapon | Fire rate | Mag | Reserve | Mag dump | Weapon lvls | Unlock (MP lvl) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KG-7 Vulcan | 41 RPM | 10 | 20 | 14.6s | 75 | 4 |
| Astaroth .57 | 34 RPM | 3 | 9 | 5.3s | 54 | 25 / 10* |
| Signal 50 | 111 RPM | 7 | 21 | 3.8s | 74 | 50 / 35* |
Attachment slots
The Astaroth .57 has 7 attachment categories. In MW4 you unlock each attachment once, and it then works on every weapon that accepts it.
- Optic
- Muzzle
- Barrel
- Rear Grip
- Stock
- Laser
- Ammunition
We are not publishing our own attachment-by-attachment build until we have tested this weapon in the launch version. Until then, the in-game Gunny optimizer in Create-a-Class and the FOB Gunsmith can suggest close-range, balanced and long-range builds from the attachments you own.
Apex Attachment: Astaroth .57 Infiltrator
Uses sonar and radio pulses to detect enemies through walls at limited range. Magazine capacity drops to 1.
It blocks the Optic slot(s). Apex Attachments do not use one of your normal attachment slots, and you unlock this one at weapon level 54.
Getting the Astaroth .57 in DMZ
Activision's launch post lists the Astaroth .57 as unlocking at player level 25 in its unlock table and at level 10 in the weapon's own entry. Check your in-game Progression menu to confirm.
In DMZ the player level only matters for leveling, because weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared with Multiplayer. To actually carry a Astaroth .57 into Hajin:
- Loot one from enemies, players or military containers. Weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8 attachments.
- Buy it from the Vendor (DMZ level 5) when it is in that day's stock.
- Extract once with the Astaroth .57 Weapon Manual. After that you can buy the base weapon at the Gunsmith (DMZ level 10) as often as you like and add up to 5 attachments with DMZ Cash.
Any Astaroth .57 you extract with can also be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off copy. You can carry two weapons in and out of a deployment, or more with a Weapon Backpack.
